Exchange 2007 and multiple emails

Hi there

looking to setup an exchange server with Windows 2008 server and Exhange 2007.

Does anyone know whether it's possible to have two separate companies emails on there and have one of the two selectable when setting up each user.

i.e. domain is Example.com

i.e. user1 logs on to example.com and wants emails soley to him at company1.co.uk

then user2 logs on to example.com and wants emails soley to him at company2.com

I called microsoft but the guy that got back to me corresponded with America before telling me it will be able to do it but has yet to send me an email confirmation i requested last night confirming it so i dont trust his info at the moment.

edit: if it is possible then can i do this with Echange standard and Enterprise? or just enterprise?

No problem.

In Exchange Management Console, under Organization Config > Hub Transport you enter the domains you have (eg company1.co.uk and company2.com) and set them as Authoritative

Still in EMC, under Recipient Config > Mailbox, select a user, go to E-Mail Addresses and you can set the primary/reply address for a user. So user1 will send as [email protected] and user2 will send as [email protected]. Probably best to un-tick the option for "auto update e-mail addresses based on e-mail address policy" whilst there.

I've got one Ex 2007 site that has 10 or 15 domains in use.

do i need exchange 2007 Enterprise for this? or perhaps a better question would be what the the cheif advantage of enterprise over standard?

Nope, Standard will be fine.

You only need Enterprise if you wants lots and lots of storage or clustering. Worth checking here for an overview, as it covers Enterprise vs Standard CALs too.

A good helping of RAM in the server is good. Our Ex 2007 box has 4GB and store.exe eats RAM/VM likes it's going out of fashion. It's currently using 2.4GB RAM and 2.5GB VM for store.exe, though IIRC it will hand it back if other applications demand it (though not much else will be probably be running on a Exchange box).

I don't know how many users you are talking about, but i'd look into recipient policy filters as well, this will do the above for you without you having to set up each user.

no more than 7 total for now except they are expanding so couldnt say how many people will move to the office in 12 months.
