Long story short, all i am left with is an EDB file.

Fortunately its a small organisation but I need to know. How can I match the EDB file back to the users.

I had to rebuild a domain with a new AD (recovered from backup). When I fire up the exchange server and add the users again, I can mount the old EDB file nicely but I need to somehow 'link' it back to the users.

Any ideas?

I've had a quick look at using ExMerge and whilst this will extract the psts from the edb I'm looking for a simpler way.

First I'm not an Exchange guru, but is the EDB not tied into each users SID?

If so I don't see any other way than to extract the PST files and manually import them into each users new mailbox in the new domain...

I'd be interested to hear what other people have to say about this query :)

In 2003 it was simply a case of deleting any existing empty mailboxes the users have. Attach the 'recovered' Mailboxes from the edb to the AD Users in Exchange management.

Not played with 2007 extensively yet but I assume it is a similar process?

no, because Exchange 2007 does not tie in to AD like it did in 2003. If you create a user in AD you do not have the option to give them an Exchange account. You have to create a mailbox for the user manually within EMC

Thats the thing. If there is, I can't see it.

I've even repaired the edb and managed to mount it. I then add the users and point them to the recovered database but it still doesn't work.
