Got home last night to find I had no internet - Sky router reported 'PPP server down'

So I did the usual reboots but problem persisted so I called SKy on their lovely 0844 number (no saynoto0870 I could access) and they confirmed my North Cheam Exchange had been down since 8am yesterday.

I was happy as the problem did not lie at my end. Upon waking up this morning it seems the router still has no internet sync and I suspect the exchange is still having issues.

I've searched around SamKnows etc but cant find any website that reports the issue currently with the exchange. Does anyone know of a good website to track the status of echanges so I can see when it is back online please?

I cannot fathom another night without broadband, help me, it's like I've lost a limb :(

Theres no official ones that give real details most of them sort of guess same with the location of the exchanges.

Sky should be able to find out a date or how long the work will be for.

When I spoke to Sky last night, he said how long is a piece of string. They may have had an update since though. Will try call them during lunch.

mmm I hardly ever had this issue when I was with Freedom 2 Surf (twice in 3 years) and this has now occurred and I haven't even been with Sky for a month.....is this what I have to look forward to or is this hopefully a one off?

It doesn't matter if it's Skys kit bt engineer will still have to go in there or have it logged and only Sky can find that info out not a customer.

A lot of companies at the moment are doing upgrades so fair few have been having down times but yours down sound a bit long

It should be Sky/Easynet working on it if it's their kit.

Would that depend if he's on LLU or not though?

The exchange has Sky/Easynet LLU, so it's fairly likely he's on LLU. The point I was getting at was that it's not the whole exchange that's "down".

Ye I'm on Sky LLU - My missus has the day off so called her up and she says the internet has been back for the past 30 minutes so panic over :) Hopefully this isn't a regular occurance.

This happend once when I was with UK Online (run on the same network as Sky),

After a call to CS they already knew about the fault and it was fixed within 24 hours so I couldnt complain.

Now with O2 and this hasnt occured yet.

To give you an idea oxide

it was an underground fault and EDF Energy repaired the fault, if it goes down again drop me an email and if im in al check it. ;)

Thanks DAvE18, it was working perfect last night when I got back home :)

How do you know that though? Do you work for EDF/Sky and have inside information?
