hi, i bought a 512mb zotac 9800gt the other day and its no better then my 1gb 8800gt, would overclockers let me exchange it for another and pay the extra difference - minus the p&p?

Also the gfx card looks completely different to the picture.

Thanks

well if you only just bought it and it doesnt do what you expected then you should be able to return it to them as long as its in the same condition that you recieved it in
i think you have to let them know within a week of purchase so give them a call

I suppose you could send it back under the distance selling regs (7 day grace period) - you could explain to them why.

Also, you should really have asked for advice here since many of us know that the 9800gt is simply a rebadged 8800gt.

Naughty Nvidia trying to sell on old tech. :(

yeah i didnt know until someone told me, its actually a few frames slower in gta then the 8800gt, maybe because it has more memory?

ive only had this 3 days used once, so i think i will phone them.

How does it work? will they send the new one i order and collect this 9800gt, or do i send it back?

Thanks

Loads of people have fell for this, it's a shameful naming scam, But i'm sure the boys at OcUK will help.

You can get a no-quibble refund as long as the card is in good condition under the DSR. Buy a Radeon 4850 instead :)

ok thanks everyone i think i will phone them soon then, ive ordered a bgrade abit ip35 pro xe motherboard and 700w OCZ gamexstream psu new, and these have been brilliant so far.

I didnt even know until someone told me i cant have two nvidia cards with this board anyway, crossfire is only for ati? If so could someone explain to me a few things?

1) If i have two 512mb ati cards the same, will that become 1gb?
2) Is crossfire better then one card?
3) should i get two 512mb cards if so, or two 1gb ati cards?

i was looking to exchange to this card: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showp...3 TV-Out/Dual DVI/HDMI (PCI-Express) - Retail and hopefully it can run gta ok, some time this year i could buy another of the same.

My pc spec is:

700W OCZ Gamexstream
Abit Ip35 Pro XE
Q6600 - Thermalright Ultra 120
4x1gb DDR2 XMS2

Will this card be better then the 8800gt and 9800gt?

Thanks pros:cool:

i cant really afford a 4870, so the 4850 will do. If i order that card will it look like the one in the pic?

Hope i dont have to pay the £7.99 p&P again :(

No point in running Crossfire on a P35 board as the second slot is too slow. A single 4850 will be noticeably faster than an 8800GT.

As long as the card is in a resellable condition i.e its in a state you would be happy to recieve it in as a new product then you can return it under distance selling regs. If the packaging is a bit dog eared you may find you have to pay a restocking charge. Either way I'm sure you can get something sorted.

dam its misleading, the fact it has a 9 instead of the 8 to me means its a whole new series, im starting to realise its exactly the same, if not slightly worse for me :(

4670 is slower.

The shops new support forum is for order queries. :)

Id get the OcUK 260-216 at only £206 if you can afford it, minimum card to get from a GT imo, as everything else wont be much of an upgrade, if at all, and they fantastic cards, will also be quite a boost up from the GT as well, and that price is a steal. :)

They have allowed me to get a refund (not sure if it covers the p&p) after i explained how bad this card is. Im going to use my 1gb 8800gt and save up for another month or so and get 260card as LoadaMoney suggested.

Im still a bit confused though, do i have to take it to the post office and send it?

Thanks everyone for your help :)

Normally they issue you with an RM returns number and an address.

Send them a webnote to confirm.

Also, the 260 will be an awesome upgrade - i have the old 260 and it's miles faster than both my old 8800GTS 512 and 8800GTX.

glad its not just me, well actually im not glad nvidia want shooting. That is so misleading, i checked the nvidia site out, ignoring the description they put on the 9800gt (they make it sound more supreme to the 8800gt) the detailed spec is identical!!

..Yes im thinking of buying a 260 in a month or so time, but im undecided on having that one card or getting a good ati card for future crossfire. My abit board doesnt allow SLI so im not sure which path to go. Ive also had nvidia, but after this stunt they have lost my respect.

So do i get the 260 or crossfire 2 good similiar ati cards?
