Is there a way to export a public folder on an exchange server into a PST file?

We have a Public Folder which is needed for archiving purposes, but is about 7Gb on the server! We don't need it other than historic data and was wondering if there was a way of exporting it (similar to doing a PST file) into a single file entity.

Can it be done?

Tough one. You can export directly from Outlook to a PST. However, PSTs are well known for corrupting when they go above 1 or 2GB.

Could you split it somehow into smaller PSTs?

The new version of PST that comes with 2003+ is good for around 20gb apparently, can't say i've tried it at that size before though.

I've never had any problems archiving psts from public folders although non have been as large as that. Splitting might not be a bad idea to be safe
