USB Wireless dongle- 100% sig. strengh in Linux, only 2 bars in Window XP???

So I hooked it to a longer cable & it still is 2 bars in Windows, but 100% in Linux. The only reason I care, well I am a wondering why windows is just 2 bars also, sorry EvE online discoes me. Apparently EvE is a cry baby if you drop packets is what I was told. I play UT2k4, never a prob. with discoes. In linux though it discoes me just surfing, not that much. So I am drawing a blank. I do have a old wrt54g, but I never hear about other people geting discoed, I am on another floor with a brick wall between the router & me, but the sig. wouldn't be 100* in Linux if that was the prob. right?

Possibly a driver problem, have you tried other drivers for Windows?

EDIT: I thought that you was on about an adapter problem, doh! Have you tried changing the channel the router operates in? How about updating the Firmware to see if that helps anything? On my WRT54G I've put the DD-WRT firmware on it, much better imo.

Well no one else in the house has any probs. & the only real prob. this has for me is I play EvE & get discoed, but I also play UT2k4 online with out a prob. At times in Linux (Mint 10) I get discoed & I have to reconnect, I also wonder why that happend, cause the sig. is 100% since I connected the wireless N stick, but the discoes seem to come more now. Is there a app. for Linux that can give me a clue? I think I might get the G dongle & use that one in linux, I rarely got discoed in Linux with that.
