K, I used to bike and go to the gym quite a lot but as i dont work where i used to work now and dont really have time to go to the gym i decided to buy an exercise bike.

Its had a fair bit of use (probably around 150miles if the clock counter is right)

My question is - If im only doing bike and thats it, will I just end up with massive legs and being slightly fitter or if I keep at it everyday will I see some weight general weight loss (from chest and stomach mainly)?

Why not get a cross trainer or concept 2 rowing machine.

i did look at rowing machines and love concept and concept 2, only problem is they are about £800 second hand (presumably taken a battering from a gym aswell). I paid £50 delivered for a magnetic exercise bike, sure its not the dogs but it makes me sweat, especially when it changes the difficulty itself!!

yeh i know running is good but english weather is crap, i dont really like running (unless on a jogging machine where i can vary the incline) and i get tv whilst i bike. oh and i can get a shower straight after aswell

Take up proper road cycling, much more comfy than sitting in a room sweating. 150 miles isn't a lot (over how much time?) I did 350 miles in the first month on a road bike, and that's not a lot compared to other people either.

over about 3 weeks. Ive been doing between 8 and 15km a time (though ive only managed the 15km once) taking just over 20 minutes to do 8km.

I know its hardly record breaking but id rather go slower and not kill myself so i can bike the next day (and walk aswell)

I havent got a push bike (my £10 raleigh lizard got stolen) and my giant is at home with parents
