Heylo all!

Pickers and I shall soon be looking to move to the wonderful world of Exeter - yay :D! The problem we have is... we know pretty much nothing about the area! :( Booo.

We're looking to buy a property down yonder for around £170k - £180k. Ideally we would love a house with 2 - 3 bedrooms that's hopefully not terraced and in need of a fair bit of work. (Well actually, we would really love a 4 bed house, over looking the sea, with a hot-tub, bar, multimedia room, music studio, garage (x2), massive garden and marble topped kitchen... oh and a jag thrown in too... but beggers can't be choosers! :p )

What areas and roads are popular to live in (including areas way above our budget) and what are definite no go's?! Any recommendations would be great!

Whilst I'm here as well... anyone know of any decent mortgage brokers?

Big big thank you! :)

No, my mum works one day a week there and her husband manages the main office. :p She seemed happy to answer any questions. So fire away, she even offered to send out details of price range etc.

Wooohooo! Well if they're able to send us any details of 2 - 3 bed houses in decent areas upto £180k (or any of those that could possibly be offered on), which need renovation/TLC then we would be very happy indeedy! :D

If we come across any properties we think we might like, we would love to ask your Ma or Ma's hubby their opinion of location and price if they wouldn't mind?!

Would it be dandy if I throw you on my MSM Phog?!

Thanks for all responses! We're looking forward to popping down and scouting around these areas! :)

i've lived in exeter for about 7 years on and off...feel free to add the email in my trust to your msn if you want to ask anything.

night life is, in my opinion, bloody awful club-wise, but there are some good pubs about.

i live in st thomas, and the whole area between cowick street and alphington road is pretty good- quiet area. my house backs onto the playing fields (cowick barton playing fields), so theres a nice view and plenty of space for dog walking, losing your kids etc...

we should have an exeter meet, cos it seems theres quite a few OcUKers in the area...

Soon to be two more :)
We've seen a few in that area actually and they interested us. Coswick Lane Coswick Hill, Wellington Road...
