Hey,

Well I have tracked down the banging noise I get going over speed bumps and round bends. Its my exhaust tip hitting against the plastic surround, also one of my mates have noticed my exhaust moves quite a bit when driving it. Now i noticed on the rail bit on the exhaust that goes through that rubber holder it is shiney. Which shows it is moving up and down that which i suppose is moving it from the centred position.

So i used a jubilee clip to try and hold it in place so it could not slide. It has stopped a bit of the banging from it but i feel it could still be moving too much.

Any ideas?

Perhaps some rubber edging from a DIY shop that's normally used for shower doors and the like and put it on the offending area, won't stop it banging but should make it a bit quieter.

I would check your engine mountings.
If front wheel drive and with worn mountings the engine will shift enouth on bite to cause an exhaust knock. Does it knock as you lift the clutch or all the time.

Failing that then rather than the rubber being worn there is probably one missing.
Pop in your local exhaust centre and buy two new exhaust rubbers and fit.

Either way job done.

malc30,

Nope it is from the exhaust tip from htting my bumper, been able to recreate the sound perfectly via just moving the exhaust by hand and hitting the bumper.

So just a couple of new rubber holders then?

Yes mate but it's strange that it has started happening.
I would still lift the bonnet and get someone else to bite the clutch up and down whilst in gear to see if the engine rocks to much. It will move and is supposed to but not excessively.
Something has caused this to happen and i am a one for finding the cause as well as the cure.
Check all the rubbers and hopefully one will be perished or actually missing.
Also check the downpipe bolts to make sure they are tight and all there.

Wel it was happening only on corners and speed bumps, same places each time aswell. Also you can see some evidence of the exhaust tip hitting the black surround for the exhaust. Though i will still do that check as it wont take long to do.

If it helps it started after doing some spirited driving...
