The tone of my saxo vtr's standard exhaust has dramatically changed over the last few days. Its rather deep now. There are holes in the back box that i know about but it is now back firing slight. Is this the norm when the backbox is failing or is the cat/mid box on its way out too?
It has got a lot worse since last night. Red line action.

It's normal for backfiring to occur if the exhaust has air leaks. They won't be huge, but the odd pop here and there usually while on overrun.

Give it some major beans and see if you can't make the whole lot drop off ;)

Mine seems airtight at the minute but there's only a couple of skins left on the backbox. When it starts blowing I'll probably just swap it for another standard one, £89 new from Citroen :)

The pipe going into the backbox is no longer going into the backbox lol.

Think this is the problem :D

Ive had that problem before :D

I was coming home from a 500km trip and at the 300km mark i though my car was sounding much louder and sexyer when i went to over take or accelerate :p
Drove the rest of the way home to find out the next day from a service that it had snapped off completely.(i got home late so didnt check it my self) :p

Basically what has happened is the pipe going from my backbox to the mid box no longer goes into the backbox.

This means the backbox is free to wobble around.

Any idea where I can get a pipe like this from? There is a join from the midbox pipe where it links up with the backbox one. It's pretty rusted but I was just gonna saw the joint off, then join them up with a new pipe going into the backbox.

Then tape it up the joint with exhaust tape until I get a new backbox lol.

Can this be done? Where can I get a pipe like this from? :p
