Hi Guys,

I have a 4 port Linksys WRT54GL router but I've used up all of the ports and haven't had good experiences with the wireless. What's the easiest way to expand the number of ports on the router?

From what I've read plugging a 10/100 switch into one of the ports should be fairly painless. Any experiences or advice would be great!

Thanks,

Mark

Yup, just unplug one of the existing connections, plug a switch into that port and away you go :)

With older stuff you might have needed to use a cross over cable, but with most modern switches and routers they'll work fine with a normal straight (patch) cable to connect them.

I've currently got my network setup as an WRT54GL, with 3 ports hooked directly to computers, with the 4th connected to an ageing SMC 8 port router (which hooks up to another switch in another room).
