I originally purchased a TP-Link gigabit powerline starter kit that contained two adapters. These are setup and running as I expect. I'm looking to extend my network to get wired access in another bedroom. I was wondering whether I need something 'compatible' with my existing adapters and if show what would I need to look for? Or would I be able to use any other powerline adapter and it would connect to my existing network when I try to pair it?

If you can, buy more of the same model.

In theory different adapters will all talk to each other as anything even remotely modern will be a HomePlug AV or HomePlug AV2 compatible device.

You also have the option of plugging the existing adapter into a network switch (about £15) and then running a cable to the other bedroom.
