Hi Guys,

New folder here got my 3.ghz sr-2 crunching yesterday along with another spare rig.

Im looking to start crunching using GFX also and I was wondering what the expected PPD for different ranges should be.

I gather that the ATI 69**/79** seem to do about 7-9k

How do the NVidia rivals match up?

Also it seemed impossible to find a rough expected PPD list against gfx's so might be nice to get a rough list of the popular cards

Biffa is the man to speak to regarding an SR-2 and GPU's.......

Chances are, you're probably better off cpu only doing bigadv's (as long as you can dedicate 16 cores). Utilising a GPU will only handicap the CPU's. Also, if you are using watercooling you may be able to crank up the overclock on the cpu's to around 4GHz - if you're not using watercooling - use the money you'd spend on GPU's to get watercooling instead :D

If you do insist on using GPU's then the GTX 5xx's are good bang for buck.....

I think (if it still holds true) that a 560Ti or 570 are best bang for buck - particularly a highly overclocked 560Ti (I know - I use to use both when folding).

p.s. Biffa...... If you're out there - I'm just improving the team position in Primegrid (for DC Vault) then it's all hands (or GPU's in this case) to Folding.

Me just counted the cost of my rigs...... I could have got myself another BMW M3 (second hand :D)

Thanks Loudbob! Talking to Biffa already :)

Maybe theres a better cause for my 7950 :) not planning on selling it just yet just fancy using some of the PCI-e slots up on the sr-2 and thought I can keep an eye on the MM section.

7950 = Milkyway@home at around 200K per day

Got your email, will reply when I get a chance :)

Ive not had chance to look into Milkyway much but I have been doing some good numbers over the weekend with F@H on the sr2 cpus :)

Ive finally got MW@home going now too, set it to pretty much only use the GPU, although Im only getting one work unit for the gpu at a time, is there a way to get more so I can reach 100% useage - I'm floating between 75-80% so i dont think there will be a huge gain.

Its currently taking about 1minute per WU

cheers Biffa I knew I had see the work load info somewhere but was heading out for work so hadnt gone looking for it.
