What speeds would you expect to see based on the following stats?

When I signed up to the service the estimate was 22mb-40mb down and 2mb up. When I run speedtest I generally get speeds in the low 20's. I've never seen it above 28mb. Upload is nearly always 2mb and ping is always sub 20ms.

Based on the stats above I'd expect and average download speed of 30mb, but I'm not sure if it's that straightforward.

I've tested cable and wireless and the speed is pretty much the same.

Yep those stats say you'll only achieve c.28-30Mb as it stands.

You must be a fair distance from your fibre cabinet.

What does it say when you put your number into BT's DSL checker?

https://www.dslchecker.bt.com/

It says "There is no data available for this number." which is weird as I'm sure I've used that site before.

28-30mb is in the middle of the estimate I was given when I signed up so I can't complain, but it's more the fact that I'm getting less than the ~30mb the router says. Why could that be?

You have to check via address or postcode if you're phone line is not provided by BT. It doesn't always say FTTC speeds though anyway.

If you're getting less than 30Mbps then it's possibly traffic shaping or a result of contention in the local area. Try doing a test very late in the evening (past 12AM) or early morning (6AM-7AM) and see if it's better.

I would advise that you should be getting anywhere from 28/30 down / 7-8mb up.

Speeds fluctuate from time to time, it depends on the time of day, peak vs non-peak and so on.
