expected temps for 970 sli ?

its a fractal design mini r1 same as this one but few improvements http://www.fractal-design.com/home/product/cases/arc-series/arc-mini-r2

Not only is that case limiting your rad requirements, it's limiting your airflow with 2 GPU's in there.

If you want to work with what you have, you could put the CPU on air and have the SLI setup under water with the 360 rad space you have? See what the temperatures are?

That case simply isn't designed for the purpose you're using it for.

I would also say forget the push/pull thing, gains are minimal.

its on water ;)

i will try the fans tonight on full if i can stand the noise if not i'll bin my case and get a corsair 450d

this is basically what i have it setup like ignore the video card on the pic theres 2x 970 in there atm. as you can see the top rad is a thin one if it was any thicker it would foul the ram

All good info chaps.

I'll be doing my 970s soon (just waiting for my birthday :D), same as Uber - inno3d with 1500mhz. Run at almost 80 on air (with overclock) and sound horrific! I can't believe anyone would be able to put up with this noise!

I've only got 1*120 and 1*240 rad though. These run hotter than the 670s so I may have to drop in another rad.

A stock 970 should be putting out slightly less heat than a stock 670, the same is true of factory overclocked models. Don't confuse the temperature the cards run at with the amount of heat they produce, the first figure can be drastically altered by how good the cooler/fans are and what they are set to.

EDIT: I'm not saying not to get more raddage, that's always good, just pointing out the TDP of the 970's is actually slightly lower than a 670.

Yeah to be fair the 670s I had were both pretty good, with decent non-ref coolers. It's just this particular model's cooler (inno3d) seems pretty rubbish. I can only compare air-to-air at the moment, but as you say if TDP is lower then it should be fine.

They clock well so that's all that matters really - once they're under water I won't have to worry

i just bought and fitted 2 corsair sp120 fans for radiators pushing the air out ( instead of pulling it in like my old setup )

now getting 65oc on 2nd card ( the one the heat from the first card gets dumped ) and 50oc on the cpu which is after the second card but with the 240rad just before it.

also now the top fans are not pulling air in i have ditched the thin foam air filter so theres less restriction up top.

i bought an akasa fan controller but its going back as it causes my fans to make a buzzing noise.

next thing i want to clear up is the front and rear fans either have them pulling air in both on or just one as i don't know if they will do much.

I dont suppose anyone could offer up their kit list for 970 SLI ? If I didnt bother watercooling the CPU would one 240/280 radiator suffice?

Is that bottom drive cage removable? You don't seem to have anything mounted in it and could probably mount in the top 5¼" bay if necessary. You might have enough space to be able to swap out the 120 rad for a 240 then.

Worst case, stick on of these on the outside panel of the case with some quick disconnects in case you need to remove the panel :D
