fwell its turning into a rather expensive week in regards to the vectra taxi :(

first up was paying the excess for the insurance to the bodyshop £500 although i can claim this back due to non fault thank god

then this morning a trip to vauxhall ensued and the bills ended up

£500 to the bodyshop :(
£665 quid for a clutch and flywhell kit
£40 for a service kit
£40 for a new set of glowplugs
and finaly £330 for a new inlet manifold and actuator ;(

expensive week and its only tuesday

Does the £665 quid for a clutch and flywhell kit include fitting, or is it just for the parts?

just parts i'll fit myself :(

and big wheels brakes urm not sure, got a set of 345's lined up for her off a vectra vxr and the wheels are getting changed for a set of vauxhall 18's rather than mo's

The whole point in a diesel Vauxhall is that it costs nothing to run. Given this one seems to cost quite a bit what's the point?

Fox it does cost nearly nothing to run, all its had in a year of ownership so far is discs pads and filters/oil

this is the first round of expenditure on the car since purchase last year ;)
so as much as i'm moaning its not really THAT bad

the inlet manifold is a well known issue with the DTH engines, the linkage for the swirl pots falls off(funnily enough its a alfa/fiat derviced engine) and cant be replaced without going the whole hog of a new inlet.

yes there is various bodges and diy repairs but its a working car and does funny miles a week so i'm not messing about. if you were to add in the parts i'be already fitted this year (discs and pads all round at a £100 and a few service kits i reckon thats about £1500 in parts.

or £30 a week on servicing and maintenance- not too bad for a taxi tbh :)

indeed its the lovely italian sourced dth

and yes i could have got a cheaper clutch and flywheel. the local factors were offering me a complete kit for £500 but couldnt tell me the brand so i passed

ended up going to the dealer

vauxhall retail price is £942.35 EEK
trade price £665(566 exc vat)

just a bit of a difference, and i have the piece of mind knowing that i have genuine parts which i know (should) fit first time with no issues and plenty of comeback if things go faulty prematurely

Some smart arse will be along in a moment to tell you that you don't have enough time in your life to do that many.......

Well, I recall being told similar! :o

Unlucky with the bills mate, at least it was not a BMW taxi...... :D

people would be surprised how easy you can rack up 100k miles a year and thats me being conservative.

bear in mind thats less than 2000 a week or under 300 a day. in a taxi with 2 drivers thats pretty easy going :)

Meh!, some of us have to do 2000 miles per week without a 2nd driver.

Wimp.:p:D:D:D;)

LOL

bear in mind i spend half my day sitting around reading the sun whilst drinking cups of tea and thinking of even more fiendish ways to rip customers off.(or so some would lead you to believe )

think this might have been the source of all that rattling ;)

all sorted now woot :)

pit of a "moment" once it was all built back up and there was no power steering, note to anyone doing similar, always make sure you refit ALL the earth wires :)

all checked taken for a wee run and fueled up ready to go back to work tommorow also managed to sneak a cheeky wee service and a new set of glow plugs in too
