i currently have the standard antec tri cool from my case on my big typhoon looks cool bcos of the blue led, but temps arent so good!
was wondering anyone had any experience with the scythe s-flex 1600rpm,
my logic is 1600 rpm should cool it down pretty good!!

not sure what that HS looks like but as for the s-flex and it does make a good difference, got one on my TRUE heatsink. its never warm to the touch ever, and also helps circulation. although it hasnt run at 1600 for me, usually 1450 - 1530.

What are your temps? I believe the tricool runs at 1200,1600,2000 on l/m/h. If you are running it on medium and your temps are really high then the HS is probably badly mounted with no thermal paste or too much thermal paste! Tri-cool are solid fans so i don't think you would see a huge improvement if both are running at the same speed- 1600rpm.

mt temps sit around 30c wit hfan on low but its still noisey and i was thinking maybe bring temps down abit!!
im hoping to replace al lthe fans as they are quite noisey.
other option is water cooling but i dont understand how it can be so quiet as still need fans !!!

The s-flex is a great fan - been using one in my tuniq tower, and it is much quieter than the standard one. It's about to get strapped onto an ultra 120 extreme to go on my new Q6600 G0. Pushes plenty of air out as well!

Another vote for it. Ditto experience with my Tuniq Tower. I have it attached to my fan controller for max versatility - very quiet at low load, very powerful at full RPM when you need it.

~30 is very low. Yate loon are much cheaper if you don't want to spend too much- the s-flex are very expensive.

Typhoon's an awesome heatsink and 30c on an X2 is great.

My old Opteron 165 ran heavily overclocked @ 3ghz and returned load temps around 65c under my big typhoon with the supplied 1300rpm silent fan.

Bettered both my Scythe Ninja and Titan Amanda and was the equal of the Ultra 120 Extreme i replaced it with.

Of all my heatsinks it's the one i couldn't bring myself to sell... it's sat in my GF's PC cooling a 3800+ X2.

Keep it as it is... your temps are fine.

ahh ok on that reply i think i will keep it as it is then and try to quiet the rest of the pc i.e sound stuff on side panels, msot of the sound coming from raptor !!!!

Will 2nd Gt's comments on the typhoon, Great hsf but can be a bitch if you wanna swap cpu's with mobo in case as fitting i find is a knuckle killer!

Tried a tricool on mine didnt make much diference between low/med to be honest so left it with the stock fan and now use tricools in me case instead.
