i am on sky fibre for a while and the SR102 unit is very poor with that in mind i have been trying to re use my Asus RT-N66 router.

i simply cannot get my router login information using wireshark, maybe i am doing something wrong?

i open the wireshark and i am connected to SR102 via wireless, start wireshark and then reboot SR102 and let it run for a few minutes, then narrow the search to upd port 67

I had to get an old openreach hg612 iirc with an old firmware to be able to get the username/password from my old sky router on fibre. It has to be an old firmware becuase they patched the hole that is use to get the credentials.

I don't have the SR102 can't help with that, when I last looked it wasn't possible to get the un/pw from it.

Packet sniffing via wireless is an absolute minefield.

Try it over a cabled connection first.

This Youtube Video seems to indicate it is possible to do on an SR102.

Ok great I managed to get the information now I have updated the router with merlin software, now where do I put the login info in?

many thanks for the help

perfect and its working now :) i have created a folder to hold all relevant information just in case, i hope you all dont mind but i would like to ask another question.....

i am doing up my home and each room i am running Cat6 data points from under the stairs where all my telephone, internet modem ect ect are all located. with the Asus router it has only 4 lan ports can anyone recommend a nice simple Lan switch that would work along with my current hardware?

thank you all for your kind help it was much appreciated

any branded 5 or 8 port "gigabit switch" will be fine to be fair, you'll be spending around £10-20 ... TPLink, Netgear, D-Link etc etc

I can't link it direct as it's a competitor website, but a company who's name sounds likes crabs has a D-Link 8 Port Gigabit Switch at stupid money at the moment, the quicklinx code is 2VZWWS00, it should come up as £9.69 - it was around £20
