I've got some very long and important text conversations stored on 2 android phones and I want to transfer the full conversations to an email address or file on my laptop as the phones are both quite old now, screens are damaged too, and I don't want to wait until the phones are totally knackered and I lose the conversations forever. Any help or advice???

I've used this:
SMS Backup & Restore – Apps on Google Play
A simple app that backs up and restores SMS & MMS messages and call logs.play.google.com
You can access the files on a PC, as they're just XML files iirc - but the content isn't anything special; it's a line with the number and time/date, then the message. In fact, you can edit the file before restoring it - I did this once, can't recall what I was faking, but it appeared in mt text app as a genuine message.
With the above in mind, I really doubt it could be used as any evidence in an official setting like a court.
So essentially you are saying my only proof of these text conversations will always be what I can show on the actual mobile phones ?
