Hello guys,

I'm quite the beginner in messing with hardware, so please ignore if I say anything too stupid.

I bought the following RAM to upgrade my mediocre rig:
https://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-112-KS

To outline the link - Speed: DDR3-1600 (PC3-12800)
Test Voltage: 1.50-1.65V 9-9-9-27 240 pin

My motherboard is the following: GA-H55M-UD2H
http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=3503#bios

To copy and paste the compatible RAM from the MB specs -

4 x 1.5V DDR3 DIMM sockets supporting up to 16 GB of system memory
Dual channel memory architecture
Support for DDR3 2200+/1800/1600/1333/1066/800 MHz memory modules
Support for non-ECC memory modules
Support for Extreme Memory Profile (XMP) memory modules

According to all these, I assume they should be compatible. However when I insert and attempt to start PC, it freezes up on the Loading Windows (the log loading screen, although the logo itself never animates).

I've googled the problem to see if I can find a resolution, alas nothing. The voltage and mghz shows correctly in the bios (both in Auto and if I manually select them changes nothing), and the latency is also set to auto, however no change when i tried to manually select it to be the same as the new RAM (old RAM is similar, at 9 9 9 24).

I read on some other forum that someone with the same motherboard had exactly the same problem (with slightly different ram, but freezing up on windows logo), and resolved this by returning the motherboard and getting a replacement - I'm wondering if my motherboard may be faulty? Although it runs fine with the old (2x2gb) ram.

p.s. the bios is updated to the latest version, F11

Any ideas please before I have to return the ram? Any input is appreciated, I think I've tried everything that I could get from google.. Thanks in advance.

enabled xmp memory profile? and how much ram in total?

how much qpi/vtt voltage are you using look in bios? try with around the 1.25v to 1.3v mark

might need more

XM is enabled to "Profile1". In regards to that qpi/vtt voltage, that confused me slightly - in that same "Advanced Memory Settings" screen where it shows the XMP Profile 1, it says QPI voltage 1.2 (in blue, cannot be selected/amended). This remains that way when I manually selected 1.3v in the Advanced Voltage Settings screen.

Apologies, I've never really messed with the BIOS before so I'll try to recreate what I see as best as I can.

New ram is 16gb, (4x4gb), I also get the same result when trying with 2 sticks

yh try manually setting qpi/vtt

1.2v wont be anough for 16gb qpi/vtt is for the integrated memory controller inside the cpu

try with 1.3v,might need more idk

even 8gb it might need more

Not sure if done correctly, but I did change it to 1.3v in Advanced Voltage Settings (where it says QPI, does not say VTT though). In the Advanced Memory Settings screen it would not let me select this value in order to change it - it only lets me select options like Standard/High/Expert or something along those lines, the mghz and QPI/VTT values are in blue and not selectable/changable on that screen. Am I doing something wrong?

that's not it,think you mean qpi speed

it should be in the m.i.t section where you set cpu voltage, below it I think you should see qpi/vtt voltage
