I thought i had got a grip on this but some posts on reddit have confused me.

running a 1080gtx and tried supersampling on vanishing realms and had lots of red spikes on the frame rate option in steam vr. Re-projection was on.

graph stated missing frames.

however some posters are saying that red spikes will only appear if re projection is turned off.

What supersampling setting are you trying?

I find anything above 1.5 causes red spikes with my 980Ti, I think it's just the card not being able to cope with the higher resolution and 90FPS. You may get red spikes while it switches to 45FPS and then reprojects, but if it's happening constantly then you need to knock something back down quality wise.

Even with a 1080 something like Vanishing Realms is reasonably intense.

In most games it just isn't viable at all imo, i've got a 980ti and if i even put it on 1.1 in Audioshield i get dips into the 70s.

I haven't tried audioshield for a while, but most of my games can handle 1.5 on my 980Ti without getting red spikes. Is yours overclocked? Did you change the quality settings in the game, from memory that's one that lets you set low/medium/high so it could be it already applies some form of SS.

Will have a go later.
