I have my TV about 2ft away from my PC. But when i start playing games etc and the CPU fan goes faster, the TV reception gets distorted :p

It can be quite annoying when i'm multitasking, dishing out some ownage on cs:s and watching top gear at the same time.

Whats going on?

erm, the motors in fans are magnetic and when they spin faster they draw more power causing the distortion /clutching at straws

I have the same problem when running high performance RAM and thrashing it with the case side off. It's electromagnetic interference.

Jokester

Like benjo my TV is 2ft away from the PC and I get poor reception when the PC is running(indoor aerial), when I switch it off its normal again.

Either electromagmetic interefence being picked up by components inside the TV, or some kind of interference being sent back down the plug into nearby electrical components.

put ferite chokes on all leads on the pc, make sure all case side make good electrical contact ( no floating ,unearthed bits ) no windows and no holes that a IP2 test would fail

IP2 you say its approz 4 inches long and just over 1/2 inch dia
