Explain timings

I think I understand timings, but what difference does timings make under normal use and gaming, and can you overpay for modules that have very tight timings and you wouldn't notice the difference?

These seem good value but at 48 are the timings a bit too high for AMD system?

According to the qvl it says CMK48GX5M2E6000C36 is supported, but on corsair site it says that's XMP

But using the corsair selector it says CMK48GX5M2B6000Z30 is right. But that isn't in the motherboard QVL!
