Explaining Terminal Services

Hi All,

Another question from me, more of a what do you do, rather then technical.

We use terminal services here, RDP from all of our offices, connecting into our cluster or 3 terminal servers.

Each user has a pc on the desk, which automatically logs on when switched on and dials into the Terminal servers, they simply log in and away they go.

How do i easily explain over the phone that the computer doesnt do anything, and they are infact working at another computer somewhere else, rather then there actual computer. Everytime i try to explain i seem to get the dreaded glazed look, which i partially understand, why do they care?

If a users application crashes on their session (dodgy outlook install i think), they seem to want to reboot the entire pc, which when they reconnect it resumed their session.

So my question:

How do you easily explain terminal services to non technical users?

Its my Job to make the users understand, and normally im good with explaining other stuff, but this one seems to stump me everytime.

Any pearls of wisdom?

Cheers,

Ash

Explain to them that their PC isn't really a PC at all, and that all it does is show them the screen from another PC at head office.
