Had no idea that it was an even a thing but i have some on my Lenovo Legion Pro laptop.
A quick google shows that its was definitely a thing, especially with Macbooks a few years ago.
Anybody on here had any experience with exploding pixels?

What does 'exploding pixels' actually mean?
Been a thing since the Retina IPS panels used by Apple 2012 onwards.

There are dead white pixels and around the edges of them it's feels like it's been melted.
Some people who have experienced this said they have seen them "pop". I didn't see them pop. I wish I had.

I switched my laptop on, plugged in the power supply and left it go into screen saver mode. There was nothing wrong with the screen when I switched it on and logged.

When I came back to it in screen saver mode, press a key and started to use it, i noticed the dead pixels straight away.

Just hope Lenovo don't drag their feet with my service request. £2500+ on a 4 month old laptop.

Thanks for that link. So it's a mechanical problem rather than an electronic one; I'm guessing down to the production line not being clean enough.
There are a good number of Legion 5 Pro owners here and this is the first time this has been reported. Many of the screens are now two years old and going strong so let's hope yours is an isolated example.
Thank you for contacting Lenovo Technical Support.

As I have tried to reach you over the phone but without success, I hope this email finds you well.

Unfortunately, there is no such thing as exploding pixels on IPS panels.

Please note that this kind of issue is considered phyisical damage and as such is not covered by warranty.
Having said that, I'm afraid we will not be able to assist you with this issue.

If you wish to pay for the repair, please contact our colleagues at base support, who can book in the repair for you.
They refuse to even accept that its even a "thing"

This guy from 2019 reported something very similar to what i am experiencing on the Lenovo forums.

Lenovo tried phoning me earlier today but i was in work and unable to answer the call, even if i had seen/heard my phone ring. Then got that email.

As for paying for the repair over a defective screen.............
