Well not quite exploding....but something in my Aerocool 550W Turbine PSU has blown, and it no longer turns on :(

I had this PSU for just over a year with no problems at all. I leave it on pretty much all the time. Then, the other night, I decide to shut the PC down for the night, and then in the morning, it wont turn on. Smell of burning followed shortly after....

Now, Ive heard some stories about dying PSU's taking out other components in its final death throes, and until I receive a new one, Im going to be cacking myself. What is the likelyhood of this happening? The only spare PSU I have is a 250 Watts, which Im certain would not power my AMD3500, 2G RAM, 7900GTX, so Im definately going to have to buy a new one.

Later on this year Ill be getting a completely new PC, so for now, I'd like to get a new PSU that wont break the bank, but should power my rig for the next half a year. Obviously another Aerocool PSU is out of the question, and Ive heard some scary stories of Hipers going boom as well.... So....Any suggestions?

Also, does anyone know about the warranty aerocool offers? Ive had the PSU about a year and a half, but thought perhaps it might be a 2 or 3 year warranty? Ive no idea how to contact them either, as their uk website has been down for maintenance forever, and I cant find their phone number anywhere. Also, the PSU came with no manual!!

Thanks all :)

You could contact the place you bought from?

Most 'reputable' PSUs come with 2-3 warranty.

This will still be good/adequate even a year from now, therefore no need to include a PSU in next build ;)
