ok here is my problem.
recently i installed an ssd in my alienware m17x r3 everything went fine, i kept the original dive as a seconadry and left the original o/s on there too, (windows 7 home premium)

so far so good, now just recently i have noticed when i visit some sites or try to download certain files i get a "internet explorer cannot display the web page" blank page message with a box saying diagnose connection problems.

there are NO connection problems

for example today i tried to download the catalyst 12.4 drivers from guru3d.com, i get right to the final stage before the download where you have to click " i agree " and this is when it buggers up.

as a process of elimination i booted into my secondary original drive and the file downloaded perfectly i clicked the " i agree " box and the file came up at the bottom of the page run/save/cancel and i downloaded it. i tried on my wifes laptop and everything went fine.

i cannot see what the hell i have done wrong or what is stopping me from downlaoding the file on my clean install.

i even re formatted and the first thing i tried to do was downlaod the file prior to running updates and i got the same error message, i have not even installed an anti virus yet, my install is virginal.

if anyone has a remedy or solution i would be forever grateful.

Not 100% on this... but doesn't Alienware use their own modified version of Windows, hence a normal Windows install won't be as stable?

nah m8 this is nothing to do with alienware
the file downloads with my original drive, and also my wifes laptop which is non alienware, i belive there is a bloody setting somewhere that i cannot see for looking.

Not 100% sure about HP, but i have Ultimate. If i use IE 64bit, i have the same issues. So just use IE 32bit, seems to have better compatability.

just tried the same file with 32bit ie and did not work either, it does not work with firefox, so am inclined to believe its a setting rather than the software/browser's.

just booted machine in safe mode with networking and file downloads perfectly.....bizzarre
