Explorer Crashes when deleting files

Lo all,

I've got a strange problem. When ever I try to delete files (either right-click delete, selected and press delete on the keyboard or add to the waste bin) I get the message "windows Explorer has encountered a problem". I lose the start menu and quick launch bar and then it all comes back again. I'm having to use TuneUp to delete all my files...

Any ideas?

had a customer with this today. They had some spyware on their machine and one directory that had filenames that were too long to be displayed, opening the directory did the same as you saw, couldn't delete them. Fixed it in the end by doing a move in dos and that told me that some of the filenames were too long and couldn't be moved. After the move everything went back to normal.

I wonder if there is a virus doing the rounds - they got it from Limewire by the lloks of it.
