Hi,

I have a laptop with Vista x86 installed, and whenever I open a folder with mp4 files in there explorer crashes.

I've only ever had Vista Codec pack installed (which works fine on my other machine & mp4s). I've uninstalled and reinstalled a newer version but the problem remains.

Any ideas on how to resolve this?

Does the problem still exist if you uninstall the codec pack ?

Have you tried emptying the folder containing the mp4 files, and then adding them again a few at a time to see if it's a particular file that's causing the problem ?

Does the other machine have the same mp4's in the folder ? If not, it's worth copying the mp4 files from the problematic machine to the other machine.

You could also try going to Control Panel, then click on Classic View on the Left. Then choose Folder Options->View, and enable "Always show icons, never thumbnails" under Advanced settings.
