Turned on my PC today and an error message saying explorer.exe need's to be terminated!!! Error Message - 0xc0000006

Once I get onto my desktop no icons, start menu etc are displayed because explorer is not running. I can open up the task manager & I have tried to run explorer from there but I get the same message.

Can anyone help...

Does it do this every time you start the computer?

Open the run dialog and type "eventvwr" and a window should open, click on System and see if there are any warning entries [red] for around the time the PC booted. Click on the entry, if any, and have a read it should hopefully shed some light on the matter.

Sometime's it will load up explorer but then after 10-15 seconds Windows just shut's it down again.

Where is the run dialog opition located mate?

Should be in the Start menu, somewhere bottom right. Either that or press Windows Key + R

Have no Start Menu or anything just my wallpaper  . Tried to bring it up using Windows Key + R but that did'nt even work.

When I now try and start a new task from task manager it closes with an error and has to be closed. Seem's like my registry is buggered or something.

Reboot the computer and during POST keep whacking F8 then a list of options will appear, choose Safe Mode.

Windows will boot with just core services and will look somewhat basic. Try running "eventvwr" from there.

It might also be worth running a virus scan while in Safe Mode.

Explore.exe still doesnt want to start even in safe mode, so can't do a system restore or anything.
