Hi Guys

A while back i ended up with the ukash virus which stopped me being able to do virtually anything.

I ended up using Hitman Pro (as per this guide) on a usb stick which allowed me to get into Windows. The only problem is that since then whenever I boot my laptop now I just get a black screen with the CMD prompt and have to manually launch explorer.

I following a guide which suggested going into the Registry and checking the shell entry and that was set to explorer.exe as it should.

Does anyone know what HitmanPro might’ve done to cause this and how I can get back to how I want to me? As far as I’m aware HitmanPro didn’t install anything.

i think there is more than one place to look in regedit. you have HKLM which is the machine default but i think there is a similar setting in HKCU (current user).

you could try a new windows account as well.
