I've been trying to solve this problem for years! PLEASE can someone help me solve this, it's been the stone in my shoe for too long!!

Every time i launch explorer (right click start button / click explorer) [using Vista] - it opens explorer and automatically branches to folder: C:/user/Me/App Data/Roaming/Microsoft/Windows/Start Menu/Programs. what a crock!! - i have to minimise all that rubbish and then head for D:/ - where all my stuff is saved.

i want to open explorer and it must automatically go to D:/ - so it shows my folders in D: (as C:/ has OS and software only). this is a generic windows installation protocol that must be an issue for everybody? how do i change explorer to load to a folder of my choice?

honestly, in the last 15 years i must have spend at least 2 weeks of my life minimising folders every time i've opened explorer!

any suggestions appreciated!

You could just press Windows Key + E and have My Computer open up... from there you can go to C: D: or wherever...

Or you can press Windows Key and type D:\ into the search and hit enter...

Or drag the D:\ drive to your Desktop or elsewhere to create a shortcut...

:/

Well answered. I would add a shortcut to D: to quick launch so that it opens on a single click.

The option is Explore not Explorer. It's the same behaviour as you get when you right click on any folder - it opens an Explorer window for that folder.

If you want a direct link to d:\ put a shortcut on the desktop or in the Quick Launch.
