Explorer not working (oh the joy)

Ok, just went to windowsupdate, installed the security fix and something else. Restarted my computer (even though it didn't ask me too), and now explorer refuses to stay alive for more than a second. It'll just autoclose.

Any ideas? Have checked for viruses, spyware and nowt.

Not on why its doing it no, but restore should fix it.

I disabled system restore (retarded)

I was going to try for a repair, but I think that's a waste of time, full reinstall it is - just backing up everything important onto my laptop, over a wireless, it's taking agess...

Mine has done that before, however i cannot remember why.
check your task manager to see if anything unusal is causing it.
end task explorer, and then in run type explorer, see it comes back up.

I've closed every program in task manager (except ones which are system processes), rebooted / tried best last configuration, shut down, and still cannot get explorer loaded for more than 1second.

Oh well a reinstall will do well, last time I reinstalled was 2004

Yay reinstalled at 6am, went to Windowsupdate, updated everything, shut down for the night wake up... SAME THING.
