Explorer replacement?

Looking for something to replace Explorer with on Windows 7 that allows me to add custom fields to Folders.

Don't care about anything else, I just want to add custom fields to folders so I search and sort with ease.

I struggle to recommend anything but Directory Opus. It is not at all cheap, but I've not found anything else close.

Once set up the way you want it (or perhaps you're happy with the defaults), it's stupidly powerful. It does have a fully-functional trial and I highly recommend you give it a go before dismissing it.

I'm happy to share my setup (which isn't exceptionally technical) as a baseline if you do have a play.
