Hi guys,

I'm not looking for a debate on the legalities/ethics of this but I would like to know if it is possible...

I'm changing jobs soon and I'd like to export my work Outlook 13 account and be able to import it into my home Outlook 365 as a dormant account if its possible? I have nearly 10 years of email that I'd like to sift through in my own time :o

I've done similar exports/imports before with Thunderbird but not with anything from MS.

Thanks.

Yes it is, create a PST file in (translating to english from other language, but should be very accurate):
File/Account settings/Data files
It will appear as empty separate top level folder inside Outlook. Create folders called Inbox, Sent (any others there).
You said 10 years - this part will be painful: I will not recommend moving ALL email at one go - it may take forever and if you crash, then it's pain to figure it out again.. just create a notepad file with date ranges you copying at any stage and COPY!! like a 1000 emails at one go, once confirmed as done, repeat..
Once Inbox completed, do again for other folders.

I would not recommend MOVING emails, that may be stepping over cliff... Also once you finished COPYING emails to PST file, close Outlook, copy PST file to media of your choice get to File/Account Settings/Data Files and remove that PST from Outlook.

As per request - not touching legalities

It's also possible that export to PST is disabled by your organisation, if they know that they're doing. It's definitely the easiest solution, but 10 years will be painful and could crash your system.

Thanks both, will have a play tomorrow.

I think I remember playing about with .pst's in the XP/Outlook Express days... or it may have even been the earlier iterations of Outlook?
