exporting contacts from iPhone to Android

just got a Vodaphone Smart Ultra
all my contacts are saved on my old iPhone4s - there is no way to get the contacts on to the sim card from the iPhone??

I googled this and downloaded an app called Contacts Kit, but when i try to use the vCard file created on the new Android phone I get a message saying the format isn't supported

do i just have to do it manually?

Export your iPhone contacts from here, they'll be saved to your iCloud account instead of the SIM: https://www.icloud.com/

Just import the vCard to here: https://contacts.google.com/u/0/preview/all

Then when you sync your Google account to your phone, it will automatically sync the contacts over.

I had emailed the vcard file to myself then opened it on the Android phone but it still didn't work - said format not supported

No problem, make sure to save any new contacts directly to your Google account as well, that way when you upgrade again it will be just as easy as signing in to your Google account. Even iPhones can sync with Google Contacts .

You can also export SMS and Whatsapp messages with some trickery.

Just create a Google Account on your iPhone, sync contacts then use that same Google account on your Android phone.
Job done.

Copy my Data on both phones.

Connect to the same Wifi and voilla.
