Exporting iphone contacts

Is there a way to epxort the contacts on my iphone 3g? Preferrable to outlook? Or is there another programme I could use to view my contacts off device?

Reason being I have lost my rag with my 3g so may get a non-apple phone and want the contacts available.

Secondly, if I do decide to get an iphone 4, is it simply a case of logging in on the phone and registering and my contacts/apps get transferred?

Setup contact syncing in iTunes.

If you have a gmail account you can even sync with that. If you were to do that next time you setup your iphone with gmail account, your contacts download and sync with google automatically.

Again what is / isn't put onto your iPhone is decided by all the settings in iTunes.
