Hi,

I have been doing some reading up on this, but haven't found a difinitive answer. I want to export my current Outlook contacts list in to a global address list so that all users can access what was my personal contacts list.

Does anyone have any experience with this? What method did you use? Have you got links to any good guides?

Cheers,

ICE

By default you wont have permissions to do such a thing unless you an administrator of the exchange server. You dont mention if you are or not ?

Thanks for the reply.

Yes, I am an administrator of the SBS 2003 Exchange server.

However, I would like standard users to be able to update the GAL on an on-going basis once my contacts are exported/imported.

You won't be able to "export to the GAL" the best way would be to set up a public folder contacts list. This can be accessed and updated by whoever you choose.

Agreed. We sometimes add the odd outside contact to the GAL but for regular updates and multi-user access, use a Public Folder.

Ok, thanks lads, I will look in to this some more.

Can you tell me whether or not contacts in the public folder can be accessed through the likes of Envelopes and Labels in Word? I know you can't if you have access to a user's shared contacts.

You may have to manually add it to your OAB before you can do mailmerges... Best to test it and see.

Hmm, this is the only way I have been able to do it as well.

Seems a bit "clunky" for something I would have thought many small networks would make use of :S
