ExpressCard SSD - use it as a Readyboost drive?

Hey,

So my work laptop has a horrendously slow drive (probably 5400rpm), and frequently grinds to a halt with 100% disk usage. I would just swap out the drive for my own SSD, but they are encrypted and machine-locked drives, so don't think I can just use Ghost?

I was wondering if adding in an Expresscard SSD to use with Readyboost and/or moving the pagefile on to it would help.

Has anyone tried this please?

Cheers,

Suman

I do exactly this boot from HDD, then use SSD for readyboost, temp files, index files and page file. It definitely works, however i'm waiting for 512GB SSD's to come cheap then i'll just boot from SSD and have done.

Above thread is old and I use a Crucial 64GB M4 now. As mentioned next time I upgrade I'll scrap this system and just boot from large SSD, but in mean time this hybrid cocktail definitely improved disk access. I also have 16GB ram so proof readyboost works with large memory also.
