When I right click on the windows drive the option to 'extend' is greyed out, however If i do this on the other drives I can extend them!

Hmm, it seems to extend a partition it needs to have continguous unallocated space after the partition. You have another partition in the way!

A third party tool would probably be the better bet in this case. I would recommend creating an image of your HDD in case it all goes horribly wrong :p

The alternative is to look at why it's filling up. Things like:
  • Disabling hibernation so that there's no hiberfil.sys (which will be the same size as your RAM)
  • Moving the swap file to a different partition or preferably disk
  • Disabling or reducing the space used by System Restore
  • Moving My Documents etc onto a different partition

No you can't extended the partition that the OS resides on.. At least not within Windows. I used an external program that i had to boot from, sorry can't remember whats its called. but it was free and i just found it after googling what i wanted. Do a google Thing is it took AGES, like 12hrs or so.. So keep that in mind. I also lost my boot sector and had to repair it. Did work fine though !

Remember it was called GParted...

u could try using something like GParted Live CD.

its basically a bootable cd or usb, with a basic live linux distro designed to run GParted.

this should let you adjust the partitions to your liking
