Hi all,

I currently have an ASUS RT-AX82U connected to my BT FTTP.

However the speed drops off in the office so I’m looking at putting a mesh network in.

I was looking at Ubiquiti gear, but I don’t have any cabling around the house for this.

I’ve looked at Google Nest Pro and Erro 6 but does anyone have any suggestions / recommendations?

Looking to spend under £300.

Where does your FTTP come in?

Meshing uses a wireless backhaul so you'll never get full speeds throughout as there will always be that overhead.

Running a cable to a central location is hugely beneficial and dropping a ceiling mounted access point in like a Ubiquiti access point.
Comes in the front of the house into the lounge.
I can’t route any cables internally, but I could run some cable externally.
Do you think this would work?
The office is also downstairs. If I mount an AP centrally upstairs, do you think I’d get a good enough signal to the office?

Unless the kit you have has wired backhaul.

OP, I know you don't have cabling in the house but powerline ethernet + wired backhaul mesh is a good option.

Check out if there is any merlin firmware for your existing router, if there is you can add to it quite easily.
Doesn’t like there is Merlin firmware for my router (RT-AX82U).
Powerline is not a good option, it's extremely hit and miss and more often miss.
I’ve tried before in a previous house and was OK, but I wouldn’t trust this houses wiring for it.

Sounds like my best option is to get some cable run round the outside of the house then.
