Has anyone got a set of the cheap extendable ladders from Amazon/Ebay for around the £50 mark? They would just be for very light DIY use but obviously want them to be safe! They will be a gift so dont want to go much over the £50 mark but if they are a death trap then I will look at socks instead!

You might get lucky with a set for around £50 but for something safe and reasonable quality I think you may need to pay more?
The price may depend on height and number of rungs?

My personal view with ladders is to go for overkill in terms of safety and build quality.
They are probably beyond your budget range but if you can get a cheap 2nd hand set of Zarges extendable ladders not much over budget they are good, definitely worth considering.

Ladder for what? I rarely use a ladder but certainly steps, platform, etc are very very useful

I bought some, they were some Workman brand which seemed decent and one of their higher models around £150. They were ok, but still a little wobbly and i never trusted them beyond about 3m, even though they were capable of much longer distances

Workman are OK, I used to borrow my next door neighbours set before I bought myself some Zarges.
The Zarges are a "step up" in terms of quality and stability, however they are not the cheapest but can be bought for value on social media and auction sites.
