Anyone have any experience fitting an extending tv wall bracket into thermalite blocks ? I am wanting to hang a 32" Led TV on one in our kitchen of a new build, was thinking about using the Rigifix as they get great reviews for dot and dab plaster boarded walls. However are they suitable for thermalite block walls as the tv only weighs around 6kg, but the force will be a lot greater at the full 50cm extension will the blocks cope or should i use a resin fixing ? thanks

I'm using a mixture of GripIt and DrylinePro to hang stuff in our new build. Using the GripIt on internal plasterboard walls and the DryLinePro on external where I have breeze block to drill into. The GripIts are perfect and so easy to install - got a 40" TV, 32" TV, large/heavy mirror, ... various other things ..., hanging off them around the house. The TVs are all on extendable arms and regularly have a few hanging right out.

can plasterboard really cope with the weight of a 40" tv especially once it is extended away from the wall and has all the lever force acting on it ?

I guess it depends on how long it'll stay extended for and the quality / thickness of plasterboard. I extend the 40" when I'm playing the PS4 which would be for an hour or two at a time. I'm not sure how far our extended arms come out mind. I believe the plasterboard in our new build is 12.5mm.

With the right fitting, they can hold quite a lot of weight: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ECDysfNhx_E

I have wallmounted a very heavy 60" Plasma (Yep old plasma) onto thermalite blocks using 100mm (so as deep as the blocks) M10 wall bolts along with double plugged wall plugs. Its so strong the block would have to come loose in the wall before the bracket fails. The blocks are very soft but drill the holes cleanly, use very long bolts going through the blocks, and plug them all the way through, and it'll be very strong.

I also used about 8 bolts.
