Hi all, this is my first real post on the forums, no idea why I feel the need to tell you that but nevermind.

Anyway's I have a problem....

I have 2 monitors, one 22" an the other 37" I usually sit looking at the smaller screen until I want to game, now the issue is because I use the 22" as my main display the games automatically load on that screen but I obviously want them to load on the 37" without having to go into the options to change the main display. Is there a way I can do this?

Some games allow you to set the monitor to be used but not all.

BF3 allows you to specify a monitor to launch on in the settings .ini for example. As for a universal solution.....no ideas I am afraid.

any particular reason you can't set the 37" as your main screen and 22" as 2nd screen, then setup the browsers etc to open on the 22" ?

edit:

what o/s are you using ?

Just the positioning of the two displays isn't ideal for that situation but it is something I may have to reconsider. I'm using Windows 7.

you could leave them positioned as they are, not a case of moving the screens, might take a bit of time to get used to getting the mouse onto the screen tho :).

should be ok to do it in windows 7, i've set it up so media players always open on my 2nd screen etc.

I agree it would be simple enough (I already have it set to bring certain thing's up on one or the other display) it's just gonna be a matter of getting used to it I guess.

Can you not setup screen config presets and use a kotkey to swap between them?

Something like
Preset 1: As you currently have it.
Preset 2: Sets big screen as primary, and small as secondary.

You could mix and match presets, to do something like
Preset 1: screen 2 disabled
Preset 2: main screen disabled

I use something like the 2nd example for my setup

Screen config? First I've heard of this, how do I go about setting this up/finding the settings to do so?

Sadly it's not, I want all games to load on the bigger display rather than the smaller without changing the smaller display from being my main display,

You using a Nvidia setup as per your Sig?

If your using AMD... CCC would let you configure a main gaming screen.

Just have a look through the NVidia control panel for setup configs and see if you can set a Preset as mentioned by evetrip

You can normally access it by right clicking on the Desktop :)

Thanks guy's! I'll give it a try soon. Is there some sort of "thanks" option on the forum?

EDIT: Yes I'm using nVidia.

Pretty sure you can change the priority order of displays within windows.

desktop -> RMB -> Screen Resolution -> tick 'Make this my main display'. My main display is actually #2, and all games start on that one.

And you can drag and drop the taskbar to any display you want (need to unlock it first).

would have suggested that had I known Windows 7 lets you move the primary taskbar as such now.

I am almost positive back in Windows XP it locked it to the primary display only.

Might have to fiddle with this when I get home myself :D
