Here at OcUK we are offering extended warranties for all our pre-built systems.

We offer 3 tiers of warranty:

BRONZE: 12 Months Collect & Return Warranty
SILVER: 24 Months Collect & Return Warranty
GOLD: 36 Months collect & Return Warranty

All systems come with a 12 Month BRONZE as standard with drop down options to upgrade to a SILVER or GOLD warranty.

These extended warranties are only available on pre-built systems purchased from the 27th September 2011 and onwards.

To view our full system range please click here.

We are currently implementing a warranty scheme for existing customers who already own a OcUK pre-built system who are nearing the end of their warranty period or who wish to extend their warranty further. So stay tuned for updates!

3 years is a lot in PC time, I think I'd probably save the extra pennies knowing that anything would be replaced if awry :)

Is that regards the £6000 pc when people were not happy with 12 months :P

That's a valid point, I'm glad OCUK are taking on our advice. A £6K gaming monster should come with a free 24-month warranty not a standard 12-month warranty, could be a deal maker.

Would be even better if they do what a certain well known catalogue store do on all items where you can pay a little extra to get a warranty on almost anything they sell. In OCUKs case it would be monitors, routers, keyboards/mice, headsets, etc. This would leave more problematic items such as GPUs, RAM, HDD/SSDs that be will covered by the manufactures own warranty. I remember being told that Lloyds of London (other companies are available such as D&G) offer various warranty's on nearly any item you can think of.

Certainly a step in right direction. :)

About time. :p Not that I'm one to buy pre-built systems these days but I can imagine the 12 month warranty putting some people off buying systems with £1000+ worth of graphics cards and top of the range motherboards etc.

Are these 'in-house' warranties or are you using a third party to underwrite out of curiosity?

Should be free 36 months warranty for biggest system over £6K as part of the deal.

Dont really see the point of this, If someone is spending more than 6 grand on a machine, clearly they either need or want absolute cutting edge, looking at how often brand new tech comes out now, they wouldn't have the machine that long to validate the extra 12 months of warranty :)

Extended Warranties generally make a retailer more money than anything else they sell. There is a very good reason for this.

Considering very few valuable components come with a years warranty these days and generally have 2-3-10-lifetime attached to them I don't think I would recommend this to anyone unless money was no object or they knew so little about PCs they couldn't even swop RAM out. I can only imagine you must sell to quite a few businesses?

Well if you consider the people who'll buy pre-build instead of building themselves they're more likely to prefer having someone else fix their computer problems than spend time troubleshooting to see what's gone wrong then try and swap components out. Particularly if it's the motherboard which has died the system will almost need a full rebuild and most pre-built machine buyers wouldn't be happy with doing that.

As I say, unless money is no object or they know nothing about PCs.

The problem I have with extended warranties however is the sheer profit that is made on them and it really is an insane amount of profit, which to me says they are overpriced.

I have always worked on the basis of never buying extended warranties. By now I must be thousands in hand and just buy a replacement if required. However for some people peace of mind and their own poor financial management probably make it a worthwhile option.

With these systems, if you just had the bronze warranty and i had an Asus mobo and the mobo broke, would you have 3 yrs on it?

Yes. The warranty periods above are full system warranties with OcUK, where they will collect the system from you or replace parts immediately if they can diagnose it to a specific item causing the fault.
After that the components retain their manufacturer's warranty, where you can send it back to the manufacturer or to OcUK who will then send it back to the manufacturer for you.
