Extended warranty gurus

Hi all, new car on order but likely to still be 6 to 9 months away from delivery. Manufacturer warranty has finished now, and I'm too risk adverse to want to drive an 80k Discovery 5 around with no type of cover (given our first engine died at 30k miles to the tune of a warranty covered £15k).

Not bothered about wear and tear, but I would like the essentials covered, ie drivetrain, turbo etc

Is there a clear provider, the go to of extended car warranty, if you will. JLR website oddly came saying "meh, we can't quote you" despite meeting their criteria.

Don't JLR offer any sort of extended warranty one the eve of the manufacturer warranty expiry?

AA looks an interesting warranty contender - I'd consider -
slightly disconcerted that plan details don't make it clear if they guarantee OEM parts, or, specify credentials of garages that would be used to make repairs

If you want the cover I'd only consider manufactures warranty - don't waste your money on external warranty companies - just look at the reviews for most places. They will try and get out of anything.

JLR must be able to quote somehow - maybe just call them up or something if website not working.
