My Brother in law has fibre broadband with EE and the EE Smart Hub. duel band 2.4/5ghz
This is located in the Master bedroom of the house as this is where the line comes in from outside, he has already pulled two ethernet cables downstairs, one is now used up via a cctv system and 2 ethernet cables have been pulled up into the loft also and are idle currently.
House is on the large side, 4 bed with extended kitchen and living areas downstairs, signal is poor to non existant down stairs whereas upstairs is actually pretty decent.
Pretty much everything that connects to the internet (I quickly counted over 25 items, smart tvs, consoles, pc phones, google homes etc etc) is done via Wi-fi apart from the CCTV sytem.
One of the idle upstairs cables is going to his lads room for gaming - hardwired PC via ethernet.
Now the question.. can the spare idle cable in the loft now be used for a switch to hardwire 3 other upstairs rooms via eithernet and another ethernet cable be pulled downstairs to be used for a centralised duel band acces point, i presume it can ?
Is a powered or a power over ethernet (Poe) access point and switch prefered ?
Any recomendations on models , features etc ?
He's would prefer the access point to be ceiling/wall mountable if possible and not be too much of an eyesore
Any help greatly appreciated
