Extending Ethernet cable used for POE

Hi,

We are having some renovation work done and I have an opportunity to relocate a managed switch and other bits and install in a small data cab a few metres away.

I have a couple of wireless access points in the house that get their data and power from the switch being moved via the Ethernet cable plugged into them.

Unfortunately they are too short if I move the switch and running new cables from A to B is out of the question.

Can these Ethernet cables be coupled with another Ethernet cable without losing POE?

If so what product do you guys recommend? As these cables will run between floor joists and no longer reachable on completion of the renovations.

Thanks

How many connections are there? I would be tempted to try and have the joins accessible in an electrical box behind a blank plate or something if at all possible.

Thanks both.

These are going to run alongside ceiling joists then drop down a wall in a cab.

Unfortunately the single join would be floor joist location rather than the wall.

J&D RJ45 Coupler, Cat 6 Ethernet Coupler Extender Adapter

But as above if under floor i would choose a punchdown type :)

I've used these in the past and they've doen the job well. Or as said earlier, a coupler would also work.

+1, not the exact one I'm using at work but they have worked completely fine for POE cameras. We had issues with couplers over time, usually the contacts loosening up after a few months.
