Hi all, I am looking to buy a new house and have roughly traced the layout and would like to look at getting a full wired network run through the house as per the attached, couple of questions:
  • Is this a viable solution
  • Is this cost effective
  • Are there better ways to do this

The ISP I have is BT Infinity so their router and box will go at main point and then I thought 2 x these http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=NW-187-NG&groupid=46&catid=1595&subcat=1932 dotted around to extend the network.

I have run 1 cable into each room as this should be plenty, if not I could add a switch as required. I would also like wireless to also work for mobile devices etc?

I would appreciate your views/comments and advie :D

Hi all, thanks for the help. Sorry, maybe "extend" isnt the correct term. What I want to do is have wired connections in each room for PC/Laptops/TV's etc and have wireless capabilities through the house. The reason I have chosen routers is for the wireless aspect of them, but can I "share" one network connection through the house like this? I also stream from my main PC and would like this network to do the same, through the wired connection?
