Extending network to garden

Hi All,

I recently built a garden office that is some 35m from the main building. I have upgraded my router to a Class N and also bought a huge aerial for the PC in the office. The signal strength ranges from 60-100% and it's fairly good but I do suffer from a lot of drop outs. Running a hard cable is not really an option as I don't want to drill and route the cable into the house. I have been looking at ethernet Ac adapters which would give me a good link. I Wanted to know if it's possible to buyanother device in conjunction with the AC adapter which sends a wireless signal out from it so that I can connect multiple devices ?

Any help appreciated, even if there is a better way !!!!

Thanks,
Carl

Thanks gents, unfortunately the router (NG N150 DGN1000) is a cheapo supplied by my isp for which the antenna is fixed. Funnily enough, I bought a 8db antenna with this in mind, then found out that I couldn't use it on the router but did end up using on the other end (the USB wi-fi adapter for the PC in the office) so got some use out if it as it did indeed improve things.

Just so I get this right, with an access point the chain would be -

Router > Ethernet > Homeplug > AC Cable Office > Homeplug > Ethernet > Wifi AP

Is that right ?

Thanks again,
Carl

Thanks Pecnarf, I thought the same thing and ordered one which should arrive tomorrow. If using it as an extender works all the way to my office then whey hey !!!

If not, I will invest in a twin homeplug and then use it as a wireless access point.

Carl,

kerrgreg - Because there are about 3 devices which would benefit from a good source, and then there is my phone which is wi-fi only. p.s. it's a bit more than a shed, it's a 25m2 concrete base solid wood / insulated construction :)

Spenty - Read the OP, also I've done enough digging in the last year for a lifetime....
